Personal Project: Al-Quran EPUB version for download.

Bismillah,

All praise to Allah, Lord of the universe. I have managed to complete the Al-Quran, Epub version. Amongst the benefit of Epub version is:

- Small file size.
- Embedded with KFGQPC Uthman Taha Naskh font.
- Table of Content with juz numbers and name of sura.
- Al-Quran arranged by juz (30).
- Reflowable content, means that no matter the size of your gadget, the text with reflow accordingly. You can also adjust the font size.!

Do remember that there's many EPUB Reader out there, some can display RTL/Arabic font correctly and many don't. Some can display embedded font and there are some that do not. Some information:

Adobe Digital Edition: Does not support Arabic / RTL.
Moon Reader (Android): Does not support Epub's Embedded Font. Using fallback font instead.

So please download, and try it.

For contributions, please email me any error contained in this copy, that's the most valuable contribution I can ask for. Also if you have any suggestion for improvement, please make me know. Email it to:

alsemo [at] gmail [dot] com

As a human, I will make mistake. And I will try to correct my mistakes found in this Al-Quran, Epub version as soon as possible. In that case, if I uploaded a new version, please download the new version and delete the old version.

Please also provide info regarding type of gadget and software you use to read this Al-Quran, Epub version for my reference.

Hope this will be benificial. Thanks for downloading.

[Edit 17 June 2021] Alhamdulillah although there was no recent update but I have not stopped with this project insya Allah. When I did this project, I was using the ePUB3 format while almost all of the available android ePUB reader at that time was not even supporting ePUB2 correctly. Due to that many of you are having issue reading the ebook in Android. This made me disappointed as I need to wait for the reader app to improve before I can further uplate. But alhamdulillah I found an adroid ebook reader that can display my project in the way I want it to be!

Another tips is to install ebook reader that are able to display ePUB3 format. It should work. As always, please share me your comment, jazakumullahu khairan kathira.

Update:
There's a few application/extensions I've tested for this. As you might know, Arabic font support in Ebook apps is not the best. I've tried a few and this is my verdict.

Update 14th December 2023:
Unfortunately *.epub files are considered as possible to exploit, although not easily to do so; thus downloading plain *.epub files will now have warning for possible virus. I can assure you that inshaa Allah, there's no such thing in the Al-Quran epub, as I have tested the files using my Anti Virus.

You can also do another Anti-Virus scan (it's a good practice in general) to double confirm this. So for this, I have zipped the files and put a password for it, you can download this zipped version if you cannot download from the links above.

Al-Quran epub + md5 - zipped (password: 123456)
- Infinity Reader (by Imeonsoff): [New! 17/06/2021] This is currently the best android reader for my project. I have installed it and the display, text flow, font is just as wanted it to be masya Allah! I suggest you to install this in your android and feedback to me.

- Moon Reader: wording is just horrible. Some ayat is displayed as vertical.

- Ebook Reader: Good display of the epub. The only minus point is that there's only 3 generic font and it does not display the font included in my epub.

- Universal Book  Reader (UB Reader): Avoid.

Tested by users:
- Naim Nasir: Pocketbook Touch HD3: Working Ok. Barakallahu feek akhi.

- Unknown: KOBO Clara ereader: working ok. Barakallahu feek akhi.

Chrome:
- Readium extension: Great display.

Firefox:
- EPUBReader: Good display.

  1. Essalamun aleyküm.

Is it possible to make this project with "Tuvalu hat" called in Turkish.

It is easier for newbies to read.

You can check what I mean from hayrat kuran app or hayrat kuran website

  4. Assalaamu Alaikum,
I think there is a spelling error(may be its not) because i see there in surah faatiha you wrote ""Alhamdulillahi "Rabbal" Aalamin""............as far as i know, it should be "rabbil", not "rabbal"...

Can you please test the Epub using the tested apps/devices in the post?

For Android, I would suggest Infinity Reader as that app have ePUB3 support and I have personally using it now. Jazakallahu khair for you comment.

    Thank you again brother karl.

May Allah SWT bless us all with HIS Rahmat on this world and the next.

    1. Waalaikumsalam akhi,

Yes the ePub format is not perfectly displaying the right-to-left language on some mobile ebook apps. Not to mention that I do not have dedicated eBook reader to test it out.

If you dont mind to share a screenshot of your Pocketbook Touch HD 3 displaying the Quran epub? I will inshaAllah update the device model to the tested list.

Jazakallahu khair, thank you for your info.

    3. You can try EPUB in link below.
It contains Arabic text and Hilali-Khan's english translation.
It's native EPUB, so the size is very small, i.e. less than 1 MB

The EPub is working flawlessly on my KOBO Clara e-reader. Inshallah I'll ask my friend to test it on his Amazon Kindle if you would like as well.

    1. Learning this I would say you need to have a bit of knowledge regarding HTML syntax as it's very similar.

For the resource, I started this by using Sigil ePUB Editor, you can get it from here: https://sigil-ebook.com/

When using Sigil, you can also edit the Quran ePUB that I made available and you can do something like add translations, add different Fonts as long as you know the basic syntax of ePUB (Version 3 preferred).

  11. Salaam Akhir,

I found your epub quran at: Akhir Masa: Personal Project: Al-Quran EPUB version for download.

The arabic font used is amazing.

Firstly, may Allah reward you for your efforts which has helped many people.

Could I please ask if you have progressed the project or can assist with my following queries:

    1. Is it possible to have an english translation after each ayat?

    2. Is it possible for each new arabic ayat to start on a new line? At present, there is no line break between ayats.

I hope you can assist with my queries, as I haven't had much luck in finding a decent arabic/english epub quran anywhere.

I use a kobo Forma to read the epub btw.

    WaSalaam,

    1. Waalaikumsalam akhi,

Thank you for your kind words and may Allah keep us all on the straight path.

As per your questions, I will try my best to answer it here.

      1. Is it possible to have an english translation after each ayat?
A: My initial plan was to make an ePub with English translation, but as there’s quite some different translation done (such as: Saheeh International, Pickthall, to name a few) and there’s already quite a few website with dedicated translation done, I did not pursue to continue with translation it in. Also during the time I was doing this project, EPUB version 3 was still very much new and did not support Arabic as good as now so I put the translation project on hold. I might consider to continue on this, insha-Allah, as I still have some plans in my head which unfortunately requires the EPUB3 capable readers to be fully compatible for it to happen. Please make a dua on me for these. In the mean time you can also use websites such as https://quran.com which also have many translation provided. Barakallahu feek.

      2. Is it possible for each new arabic ayat to start on a new line? At present, there is no line break between ayats.
A: Short answer, yes it is possible to make each ayat starts on a new line. But it requires modification of the ePub file itself. This means that I will need to edit the existing file and save into separate file. Actually all the ayat have their ayat’s number which separates each ayats. When you mentioned “no line break between ayats”, is it related to the ayats displayed like one long ayat? Or something else? Can you share a screenshot of this issue to me?

Barakallahu feek for your questions and suggestions. I’m interested to know if there’s issue when reading the ePub and I will try to help as much as I can.

  12. Salaam akhi

    Apologies for my delayed response.

    1. Arabic - I’ve searched high and low and even purchased a few ebook Arabic qurans. None of them are great atm. Kobo is very poor at handling Arabic, while Kindle seems to be better. Your epub Arabic is actually the best because you’ve embedded font in the epub.

    2. English translation – a simple with plain English like Saheeh would be fine. Pickthall old English isn’t very accessible. The websites exist, but its not as portable as an epub which is what I was after for use on a Kobo. I looked at the sites you got the Arabic from, and they provide English translations to download too. I think it would be relatively small task to create a program which copies sura-1 ayay1 from Arabic then English files into a merged file, before moving onto next ayat and repeating until reaching the end of quran. I haven’t programmed for years so I’m out of touch but for anyone that does it regularly it could literally take 20 minutes to code the loop.

    3. Line break – again, a simple loop could do this. I’ll try to take a picture to show and email it to you.

    Thanks again.

    Salaam.
